My Plan D, God’s Plan A

Of course, being a planner, I started preparing as soon as I realized that the Lord was calling me away from my current job. As all good planners know, you can’t just have a plan A. I had plans A, B, C, & D. 🙂

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease four years ago. Thankfully, he has been doing fairly well. I knew at some point my parents were going to have to down-size, but didn’t think it would be anytime soon. So if the Lord didn’t open up any specific job direction, I was willing to go home and help my parents prep for a move.

Over the last month a lot has happened. My parents are putting their house on the market within the next two months. They’ve also found a new house to buy. If all goes well, the closing date will be a week before the last day at my job. So now, there is a lot of projects, organizing, grieving, moving, cleaning, and dreaming that has to be done.

Earlier this year when the Lord was asking me to leave my job I wasn’t sure why (as you can read in my prior blog, Running Towards the Unknown). Now I know. He is creating space for me to go home and help my parents. It’s crazy to see His perfect timing. I talked to my boss in February and that’s when we picked May 31 as my last day. Just this week, my parents found a house and the closing date of May 24 was picked.

Back in December when He first planted the “uprooting” seed, He was orchestrating all of these pieces to free up my time. Also, on top of helping my parents, I’ll get some sweet time with them. 🙂

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” Declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
