Weary

What a month! You can probably add any adjective to the previous statement and it would be accurate description of the last 4-5 weeks. Good/bad. Chaotic/calm. Joyful/heart breaking. Exhausting/restful. Definitly more exhaustion then rest though! 🙂 Worn/weary have been the words that have come to mind many times lately that accurately describe my physical, mental, and emotional state.

Sometimes situations are just situations and will naturally fix themselves. Sometimes they are situations where I need to shift my focus to the Father. As the Lord has  continually challenged me to seek His face, two songs have been on repeat in my home. I’m sharing the lyrics of these songs in the hope that they speak to your heart as well.

Worn – Tenth Avenue North

I’m tired I’m worn/My heart is heavy/From the work it takes/To keep on breathing/I’ve made mistakes/I’ve let my hope fail/My soul feels crushed/By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest/So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win/Let me know the struggle ends/That you can mend a heart/That’s frail and torn/I wanna know a song can rise/From the ashes of a broken life/And all that’s dead inside can be reborn/’Cause I’m worn

I know I need to lift my eyes up/But I’m too weak/Life just won’t let up/And I know that You can give me rest/So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win/Let me know the struggle ends/That you can mend a heart/That’s frail and torn/I wanna to know a song can rise/From the ashes of a broken life/And all that’s dead inside can be reborn/’Cause I’m worn

My prayers are wearing thin/Yeah, I’m worn/Even before the day begins/Yeah, I’m worn/I’ve lost my will to fight/I’m worn/So, heaven come and flood my eyes

Let me see redemption win/Let me know the struggle ends/That you can mend a heart/That’s frail and torn/I wanna know a song can rise/From the ashes of a broken life/And all that’s dead inside can be reborn/’Cause all that’s dead inside will be reborn

Though I’m worn/Yeah I’m worn

The Upside of Down – Christ August

The downside of being up is my inside is empty of/The one thing my heart truly needs/When I feel invincible a million miles from miserable/It’s always all about me

I don’t know why I don’t love You like I should, like You would/Through bad and good oh

Funny how we figure out where happiness is found/In the midst of this sadness I’m closer to You now/And that’s the upside of down, the upside of down/It’s all switched around, I lost and I found/The upside of down

You are more in my less, You are strength in my weakness/I’ll never go back again/And then Your sunshine ends the rain and I return to my old ways/Why am I a fair weather friend?

I wanna be the one to love You like I should, like You would/Through the bad and good oh

Funny how we figure out where happiness is found/In the midst of this sadness I’m closer to You now

That’s the upside of tragedies knowing You’re holding my heart always, always/I may be down but I’m finding there’s joy in the pain, in the pain

Funny how we figure out where happiness is found/In the midst of this sadness I’m closer, I’m closer to You now and oh

The upside of down/It’s all switched around, I lost and I found/The upside of down

These songs remind me that the Lord is sovereign and that He is moving in every situation. I need to cry out to Him to see the “song arise from a broken life.” I need to remember that He is, “more in my less.” My focus needs to be on Him. My hope is in Him!

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been give to us.
