The last couple weeks have been hard on the students. Classes, studies, work, and life have made things very busy and overwhelming. So how do we stop ourselves from being overwhelmed? Proverbs 31:25 came to mind.
“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.”
If we’re called to laugh at what is to come, then we’re also supposed to find the joy and laughter in each day. So here are three of the times, that I couldn’t help but laugh! š
- I was walking out of Walmart, hurrying to get into my car. One parking space, and I would be home free. The car I was directly behind started backing out. A little old lady was driving and she never saw me. š Thankfully, she didn’t completely run me over, didn’t even knock me over, but did definitely hit me with her car. The best part by far, was the eight girls on my staff, rolling on the floor laughing later that day as I reenacted the event. Our sides hurt by the end of that meeting. š
- I walked into my office the other day and sat down at my desk. Instead of seeing my calendar and a pile of paper, I was greeted by Spazz, the office goldfish. He normally resides in his glass bowl on the RA desk. It was odd enough that he was on my desk, but to make it even stranger, he was in one of the blue kitchen mixing bowls. After my comment of, “Guys…why is Spazz on my desk????”, I was informed that his bowl had been shattered by a rogue white board earlier that morning. It took them a bit to find Spazz amongst the debris. Upon moving the keyboard, they found him flopping around trying to find water. They quickly grabbed the first thing they could think of (the blue kitchen mixing bowl) and threw him into it. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt (this fish has nine lives) and happily has a new fish bowl….back on the RA desk!
- My sister is a highschool senior this year. She is almost exactly 11 years younger then I am (note she’s the cutie on the right in the picture of the two of us below). Most people still assume that I am in college (which is a whole other blog on things that make me laugh)! Last week, she played in a national basketball tournament. Her team played amazingly well the whole week. After one of her games, Claire and I were standing discussing the game. A kind old lady, came up to Claire to tell her good game. She then proceded to turn to me and say, “You have a dandy daughter”. I laughed and told her that Claire was my youngest sister. š As Claire and I walked away laughing, since this has never happened to us before, I got serious for a moment and informed her that I wasn’t going to give her an allowance, so she needn’t even ask!
